Privacy Notice

This Privacy Notice describes what may be collected when someone visits Macon County Busted Mugshots, a private reference service about Macon County, Illinois, uses a search tool, or sends a message. It explains why the information is used, which service providers may receive it, and what choices are available. Using the pages means accepting these practices as they are described here.

Information You Choose to Send

Search terms

When a visitor types a name, place, or other query into a search box, the query is sent to the independent provider that operates that tool. Macon County Busted Mugshots does not store or keep a search log of those terms on its own systems. The provider's privacy notice and terms control its handling after the request leaves the page.

Messages and contact details

If someone sends an email or message through the Contacts route, the message and contact details may be retained long enough to read it, respond, prevent abuse, and keep a basic business record. They are not shared outside the operating organization unless disclosure is needed to provide the response, protect the service, or comply with a valid legal requirement.

Technical Data Collected Automatically

Web servers and service providers can receive ordinary technical details when a page loads. These details help deliver pages, measure use, and investigate faults. They may include:

  • Internet Protocol address;
  • browser name and version;
  • device type and operating system;
  • pages viewed and the time spent on each;
  • the referring website, when one is supplied; and
  • request and visit timestamps.

Cookies and similar tools

Cookies or related storage may help show how people use the pages, keep a preference, support measurement, or allow advertising services to work. Browser controls can block or delete cookies. Some parts of the service may work differently when they are disabled.

Why Information Is Used

Information is used for ordinary service and business purposes, including:

  • keeping the pages available, responsive, and secure;
  • sending a search request to the provider that supplies the search tool;
  • understanding which pages are useful to visitors;
  • finding errors, abuse, and technical problems; and
  • showing advertising that may reflect a visitor's interests.

Links Beyond These Pages

Links may lead to the Macon County Inmate Inquiry, the Macon County Sheriff's Office, Decatur, Mount Zion, or Forsyth records pages, the Illinois DOC search, court services, the Bureau of Prisons locator, the ICE locator, and independent search tools. Once a visitor follows a link, the destination's privacy statement and data practices apply. The destination controls its own content, cookies, security, and retention.

Some advertising partners may observe activity across different websites to support interest-based advertising. Any such tracking occurs on the partner's systems and is governed by that partner's settings and notice, not by this reference site's control.

Who May Receive Information

Personal information is not sold as a standalone list. It may still be available to the service providers needed to operate the pages or respond to a lawful request, including:

  • search partners that receive submitted queries;
  • analytics providers that measure page use;
  • advertising networks and related technology providers; and
  • law-enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order or other lawful process requires disclosure.

Security Efforts and Limits

Reasonable administrative and technical steps are used to protect information under the service's control. No internet-connected system is completely secure, however. This notice does not promise that transmission, storage, or a service provider's system will be breach-proof.

Visitors Under 18

The service is intended for adults and is not directed to anyone under 18. Information is not knowingly collected from a person under 18. If a minor has sent personal information, a parent or guardian may use the Contacts route to ask that it be removed from the service's records, subject to any duty to retain it.

Your Privacy Choices

Subject to applicable law, the information held, and the need to preserve a legitimate business or legal record, a person may ask for:

  • a copy of personal information held about that person;
  • correction of inaccurate information;
  • deletion of information that does not need to be retained; or
  • an opt-out from certain uses or processing, including some advertising activity.

Send a clear request through Contacts. A search provider, analytics service, ad network, Macon County agency, court, IDOC, BOP, or ICE may need to receive a separate request because this service cannot control another custodian's records.

Changes to This Notice

This notice may be revised when the service, providers, or data practices change. A revised version will be posted here with a new effective date. Continued use after an update means the revised notice applies from its posted date.
